Raising Children Today

Raising Children Today

We all know what childhood is, but what is childhood? Does it any beginning or an end? Or does it exist within a continuum of childhood and beyond? This article takes a look at what childhood is.

Definition Of Childhood

Childhood, as defined by Webster is the period of time between infancy and puberty in which young children are physically and mentally developed. So how can we define this childhood? Is it different for everyone?

The definition of childhood is unique to each of us. What may be described as childhood for one person may not be acceptable for another. There are many people that are concerned about the situation today with childhood education. The quality of education of our youth has declined over the past several decades. Some examples of this are teacher testing and grading of children on how well they do on reading tests. Teachers are now using long tests with lots of questions that should be easy for young children to answer.

Handling Pressure

How can children handle the pressure that these tests put on them if their child’s parents did not prepare them well enough to handle the subject matter? And where do parents get the idea that teaching children are the responsibility of the teacher?

There are plenty of world premiere studies about the effects of tests on children and it is becoming clear that tests are a very bad influence on children. So much for raising children as a bonding experience between a parent and child. It seems that we have let our society raise children according to their own standards and requirements. Too many adults think, “The child must be perfect” in order to be successful in this world.

Step Back And Think

We need to take a step back and think about the world around us and why the world has become this way. If the world were simple and good, then people would be better adjusted, happier and less stressed out. How could you explain this world if you were a child?
We all have to remember that this is a very difficult world and we must be ready to face our challenges. It is no fun to be living in a poor world.
We live in a world that is full of challenges and in order to survive in this world, we need to learn how to survive. We need to be strong enough to cope with adversity in the classroom is certainly part of it.

Conclusion

Not only are children growing up in a world full of challenges, but they are learning from many of the successful human beings that we know. Where are all these great leaders coming from?
Are they doing this because they have already made it into the ranks of the superstars of the world? Or does this apply to all of us and we just need to look around to find the most excellent role models?
