Even though they look attractive and are priced cheaply, fidget spinners cannot be said as a full-time cure for ADHD or anxiety as they target a very different perspective on this topic. Given here are the reasons as to why their use case is very limited and why they are usually not recommended.

ADHD Basics

Those who suffer from ADD or ADD are known to have the problem because of non-movement of their bodies and in turn, they have to do the opposite to help improve their cognitive functions. There are reports that one is able to differentiate between how one person moves with ADHD and how their memory is. Fidget spinners on the other hand help in only one aspect of this issue, so they cannot be that helpful.

● When one is doing homework or wants to remove that distraction, a fidget spinner comes into play so that they become engrossed in it. That is one other reason as to why it cannot be recommended.

● Mental illness is very difficult to treat at times as people have to face the facts with a very disheartened tone and as there are no solutions for this, thus involving a fidget spinner in this cannot be said as an immediate cure to ADHD.

● Also, there is no proven evidence that is showing how fidget spinners help people with ADHD and anxiety, reduce their levels of stress and tension as there is no movement across the board but only spinning, which makes it less useful and not worth the objective it was supposed to achieve.

● Last but not the least, it is shown that fidget spinners distract children and not help them focus on their life and in turn need more time to come back to the original form.

According to the inventor of fidget spinners Catherine Hettinger, fidget spinners were conceived as a way to keep people out of trouble and not help cure very high-risk mental illnesses such as ADHD or anxiety. Even though it has its positives to keep stress, anxiety, and tension away, it is able to bring back concentration, focus and even keep people calm and that is about it. The limited functions it has on offer means there is very little movement, and people do not experience the full results as they expect. Those with ADHD or ADD require movement and this does not justify it, also since there is no solid evidence to say that this is able to cure ADHD proves that it is not so useful in that front, but it is built only as a distraction. Though there is no proven evidence or any reviews by people who have seen benefits in the ADHD cases by fidget spinners, there might be a chance one can see a few improvements as for ADHD patients. After all, it is all about trying once. It does no harm to health if used in a proper way. Most schools seem to have banned the product only due to them being a distraction and nothing harmful. So, make sure to try it once before to credit the product to be least useful.
